HOW TO MAKE POTATO TOTS WITH TOT MAKER
YOU CAN COOK POTATO WITH A
MICROWAVE OR YOUR OVEN.
** IF BAKING YOUR POTATO**
You MUST wrap potato in foil or it will
dry out too much-making it hard to
keep the tots from falling apart when
using the tot maker.
Bake your potato at 425 for 45 minutes.
Remove from oven and let rest on
counter until cool enough to handle.
Slice o skin and follow instructions as
provided on other page.
IMPORTANT NOTE
***When deep frying in a pan, for safety
reasons, you should fill it with oil no
more than one third to halfway full,
ensuring there is enough space for
the oil to bubble up when food is
added without spilling over the sides.
This can be a serious re hazard and
safety issue.***
If you have no
experience deep frying seek out help
from someone with experience.
Always use a pan with deep sides to
prevent oil splattering.
Choose a high smoke point oil like
vegetable oil for deep frying.
Monitor the oil temperature using a
thermometer to avoid overheating.
The best potato varieties to make tots are
russet potatoes.
One average baking potato will make
approximately 10-14 tots.
Heat oil to 375 degree F.
Microwave potato 5 minutes- but flip potato over after first 2 1⁄2 minutes.
Take potato out of microwave and
immediately wrap with aluminum foil.
Poke several small holes with point of knife orskewer on each side of potato.
Let wrapped potato sit on counter for 30-40
minutes.
Unwrap potato and slice o skin
Chop potato roughly
Let potato cool.
Season with salt and pepper.
Use TOT MAKER to form tots by pushing
rmly down thru chopped potato with
thumb on top until tightly packed.
Push tot out of mold with nger onto a
plate.
Put tots in a strainer type ladle or basket
and slowly lower into pre-heated oil. Fry
the tots until golden brown (aprox. 3
minutes)
Carefully remove tots from oil with strainer.
Season tots with salt or your favorite spices
