Tot Maker — What Is It? How Did It Come About?
Tot Maker started on a night when Tom — the founder — wanted something simple: real tater tots made from real potatoes.
Not frozen. Not factory-made. Fresh. From scratch.
But there was no easy way to do it… so he made one!
Tom, being the inventor, sketched out a rough idea, made a small prototype, refining it and the tot method, until he nailed it — the perfect little tool for homemade DIY tater tots. He then had an injection mold made and waited.
When the first samples arrived, he shared them with friends and family. The feedback was great… so he pushed forward.
Tot Maker became a reality!!!
A reminder that simple food made by hand just tastes better — and is a whole lot more fun. Tater tots have been around a long time, and they definitely have a fan club.
Thank you for being part of this little idea that turned into something real.
We always love hearing from you — feel free to say hello anytime.
A Little Tot History
Tater tots were invented in the early 1950s by brothers Golden and F. Nephi Grigg, founders of the Ore-Ida company. After cutting potatoes into French fries, they were left with piles of scraps. Instead of wasting them, they chopped the bits, seasoned them, pressed them together, and fried them.
What began as a way to use leftover potato pieces became one of America’s most iconic side dishes.
